Whenever we visit London we tend to always frequent the same old areas. On our most recent trip though we ended up in Waterloo to see a show at The Old Vic.
Right outside the station we stumbled on a place called Cubana. It was packed with people, cocktails and good looking food so we checked out the menu fully expecting it to be wall to wall meat. Boy were we surprised and in the best possible way.
They have so many vegan options and they aren’t just sides. There’s exciting looking salads of papaya and quinoa, tapas plates of Cuban style black beans and slow cooked stews.
I decided on the quimbombo and Leo tried the feijoada de vegetales. Both came with chili and herb rice and a side of golden friend plantains. While it didn’t look like a huge portion when it came out I was stuff half way through but just couldn’t stop eating until the plate was practically licked clean.
They have two branches. One in Waterloo and one in Smithfield so while we won’t be in those areas a lot it’s good to know that such amazing food is available when we find ourselves in the area.
